Original Music Program
For Intermediate and Advanced Students
The Original Music Program guides advanced students through the process of writing their own music.
Songwriting structure, musical arrangement, lyric writing and collaboration among band members are incorporated into the curriculum. Over 14 weeks Original Music students write tunes in several musical genres.
The season culminates with the students performing their original music at The Cause Spirits & Soundbar, an Indie music venue located at 3001 Lyndale Ave S Minneapolis MN 55408 known for serving up great local music.
The School of Rock Original Music Program is proud to be supported by 89.3 The Current, McNally Smith College of Music and The Cause. With the support of these leaders in the local music scene, students in the Original Music Program are afforded an unprecedented opportunity to open for rising Indie bands.
To participate in the Original Music Program, students must be enrolled in Lessons+ or the Performance Program.
Original Music Program participants meet weekly.
